We trained a lot of teams last year and here are my reflections as we plan for 2025. I am so lucky to run a communications training company in this city. We work with talented, motivated teams who show great potential. Keeps me young and on my toes.
We work for public affairs consultancies, trade associations, NGOs and institutions that are rightly equipping their young professionals for successful careers.
The “war for talent” means that to keep staff we need more than a competitive salary or promise of promotion. It’s about giving them the tools and confidence to perform. And maybe even have fun with their work.
What training and development are companies investing in?
Training that boosts personal confidence. Young professionals can learn to overcome their hesitations and learn to express themselves effectively in meetings, presentations and negotiations. Confident employees stand out and also elevate others in the team.
Credibility through pitch perfect communications. We have all had to shift from our academic days of detail, deductive reasoning, methodology to the hard cold steel of decision making in the business of policy making. Staff who communicate clearly and to the point make a noticeable impact with our clients, members and policy makers. Investing in their communications boosts their reputation and also your organisation’s image.
The policy world involves working with high-level external contacts, members, clients all against a lot of tight deadlines. The pressure is often intense and we often find ourselves in the thick of it. Teaching staff how to stay calm, clear, and composed when the stakes are high is good for them, but for you too.
Our training is also about shaping leaders and learning how to influence decisions or manage a team. Your young talent today are the future decision-makers who will drive your organisation forward tomorrow. They are waiting for your investment.
The training needs for public affairs professionals are evolving rapidly. We design professional development training for each client:
- Presenting at meetings online or in-person
- Writing briefings, position papers, minutes to meetings
- Meeting management – chairing, facilitating panels
- Negotiations and influencing – policy makers, members
- Managing others – delegation, feedback, active listening
It’s always the right time to equip your teams to succeed in an increasingly complex world. An increasingly exciting world if your cup is half full.
