Formative Communications brings together a group of experienced communicators, journalists, writers and management coaches to run our training programmes. We all have 10+years of experience in our field and are here to give advice, practice and feedback on the communications and management skills that you need for an increasingly complex world.

Andrew Manasseh

Director

Andrew has over 25 years’ experience of business management and training in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. He worked in teaching business development and management for 15 years with the British Council (UK government agency) in Asia, central Europe and then Brussels.
He studied strategic communications and marketing at the Chartered Institute of Marketing and is qualified in training methodology. He develops large-scale training programmes for clients from the private and public sector, governments and international organisations.
He has extensive experience of training senior diplomats, policy makers and executives in communications, writing and strategy. He also advises organisations on communications strategy.
He has trained officials from the US State Department, the European Commission, The United Nations, European Central Bank, Google, Radisson Hotel Group.

Katrina Sichel

Trainer

Katrina Sichel is an event presenter-moderator, communications specialist, public speaking and presentation trainer and voiceover artist.

She moderates a diverse range of events for EU institutions and international organisations. She works in policy sectors that include ICT, digitisation, agriculture and financial affairs; automotive, energy and environment and in the chemical sector.

Bruno Fierens

Trainer

Bruno has over 10 years experience as a communications consultant and spokesperson. He was the spokesperson for a national recycling agency, PR agency and he also lectures at university on media and communications.

He trains in English, French and Dutch helping spokespeople and presenters to give effective media interviews, briefings and speeches with precision and powerful messaging.

He brings insight into media interview techniques and messaging to give participants more confidence.

Charlotte Kan

Trainer

Charlotte Kan is a broadcast journalist with over 15 years of experience. She is the UK correspondent for M6 and RTL TVI (French and Belgian TV). She has written for many international publications including Le Figaro (France), Vision Magazine (UAE), The Middle East (UK). After graduating from London’s City University (M.A., International Journalism), she reported on equity markets at Standard & Poor’s and then joined Bloomberg Television, where she worked five years as an anchor and reporter, both for the French and the English-speaking channels. She writes for and reports on the tech industry in the UK and across Europe.

Michael DeToro

Trainer

Michael DeToro is a qualified lawyer and has written numerous types of reports for high-level policies and procedures including for the OSCE Human Rights Standards. He is also a former editor at the Denver Journal of International Law and Policy. He is an accredited trainer for the European School of Administration (Brussels) and has over 15 years experience of writing, negotiating and skills training programmes for international and EU institution staff.

Helen Dunnett

Trainer

Helen Dunnett is an ICF accredited coach who works with organisations to develop their teams. She brings together her experience of teamwork and team leadership with her coaching tools to create highly practical training modules that enable participants to walk out of each session armed with insights and skills that should create a step-change in performance. She has worked for over 25 years in the UK and Belgium with a diverse range of team structures such as freelance teams, volunteers, start-ups and small organisations, federations, multinationals and consulting agencies.

John Holland

Trainer

John Holland is a former CNBC Europe Bureau Chief and CBS News correspondent and field producer, as well as a print journalist for The Times of London and Macleans Magazine. From the mid-1980s to the mid-2000s he regularly produced breaking and longer format news from Central Europe as well as from conflict areas in South East Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
For the last 10 years he has provided highly practical training and advice on media interviews, storytelling and presentational skills as well as media and wider communications strategy. He works extensively with senior institutional officials and diplomats throughout EMEA and North America and with commercial clients worldwide.

Naomi Lloyd

Trainer

Naomi Lloyd is a TV reporter, presenter and producer who has worked for the BBC, ITV, Reuters, France 24, Euronews and Europarl TV. She has experience of anchoring live news programmes, reporting on location, and scripting, filming and editing her own reports. She was a reporter for Euronews Brussels’ bureau. She was also a reporter for the European Parliament’s TV channel Europarl TV where she presented reports for the ‘How It Works’ series and carried out interviews with MEPs and policy makers. She is currently presenting and producing Euronews flagship economics show Real Economy, made in partnership with the European Commission.

Nick Gibbs

Trainer

Nick Gibbs is a qualified trainer and teacher and has over seventeen years of training experience in a variety of institutions, such as the College of Europe, the British Council, Universite Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and Solvay Business School, and in countries including Belgium, the Czech Republic, Indonesia, Turkey, Italy and the UK.His specialties include soft skills training: networking, presentations, professional writing skills, meetings and negotiations.

Felice Hawley

Trainer

Felice has over 25 years of experience as a journalist working in radio, TV, print and online. She graduated with a BSc (Highest Honors), University of Texas (Austin). Her experience includes a decade as Senior producer for CNN Business News Europe - covering daily business and market news as well as milestones like the launch of the Euro. She leads workshops for the European Central Bank, Bank for International Settlements, EU institutions, governments and associations. She has also delivered training for UN organisations including the United Nations UNOG (Geneva), and the World Health Organization (Geneva) and the International Office of Migration (IOM).

Dorothee Fischer

Trainer

Dorothee Fischer is a senior communications and international affairs expert with more than 15 years of experience across the EU, the Western Balkans and Africa. She is specialised in drafting communication and media outreach strategies and developing innovative communication tools such as web documentaries, films, websites and social media. She has trained and coached communications officers from EU institutions, programmes and agencies.

Clemens Morvay

Trainer

Clemens Morvay is a knowledgeable coach and focuses on delivering methodologies to boost life-long learning.
He developed and implemented trainings and workshops on topics such as feedback conversations, self-confidence, team and individual performance, career development, agility, leadership behaviour to corporate organisations and individuals in different sectors.
