Process Writing
Writing is a process and we strongly recommend that you follow a process that includes organisation and planning, writing & checking and then editing and proofreading.
Recommended approach to planning
Writers often suffer from “white page” syndrome – a fear of not being able to start writing. We recommend that you spend good time in the organisation and planning of your long and complex document before drafting any paragraphs or sentences.
Stage | What people often do | We recommend |
Plan | Immediately start writing | Plan first, with a conscious audience focus |
Write & Check | Write the whole text then check it after | Write a paragraph, then check it before moving on |
Edit & proof | Read through their text several times, looking for ‘everything | Proofread your text schematically, looking for specific, pre-decided sets of issues |
