Successful Panel Discussions – best practice for speakers
Panel discussions provide a unique opportunity for you to spread their messages to key opinion formers in your sector.
This workshop provides policy officers and managers with insights from a conference moderator as well as practice and feedback in a mock panel discussion.
Participants will be able to prepare, rehearse and deliver memorable opening statements, policy messages and stories for panel discussions and seminars.
We will cover the following
- How to prepare and rehearse talking points (language for the ear)
- Vocal skills – clear articulate speech, use of stress, intonation and pauses
- Eliminate imperfections in speaking: hesitations, adverbs, filler words
- Posture when seated – how to sit comfortably
- Body language: hands, head, eyes, movement
- What to wear and not wear
- How to use hand-held microphones
The group workshop includes a discussion of good practices in panel discussions. You will get the chance to practise a panel discussion with Katrina Sichel and get feedback and recommendations on your performance.
Format – face-to-face and online
Face-to-face: We bring people together in groups at your office or training centre.
Webinars and online coaching: We run webinars for groups and online follow up coaching for individuals.
Online learning: We provide learners with online reading materials, tasks and cheat sheets.
Follow up training
We can tailor a programme to include Chairing Meetings Skills or Media Training. Our clients often ask for follow up training in Advanced Writing skills so that staff are well practised in developing both spoken and written messages.
