Learn how to manage your time and plan your work effectively.
The ability to get thing done or ‘achievement’ is a core behavioural competency that is relevant to all staff, managers and leadership. People who are good at achievement clarify the details, set milestones, ask others for feedback and do not give up at the first obstacle. They also develop their own systems for tracking progress and they communicate with their teams.
The overall aims of the course
We help participants to breakdown planning into the behaviours that they need to communicate and action and tasks. We will explore the nature of obstacles and how we can manage time according to Quadrant 2 principles (from 7 Habits of highly effective people). We will then explore how we can include team members in work plans with effective delegation, team agreements and feedback.
Course content
The workshop includes trainer led instruction on the management tools and analysis that are commonly used by managers and staff in large organisations.
- Achievement (getting things done) as a behavioural competency
- Quadrant 2 Time management: how prioritise the urgent / non-urgent, important / not important
- The Eisenhower matrix – do, decide, delegate and delete
- How to delegate tasks to team members and peers
- The delegation basics to get buy-in and agreement from colleagues
What to expect
The workshop kicks-off with a trainer led input on managing tasks and the behaviours that people use to successfully plan and manage their workload. Participants then reflect on their own never-ending pipeline of tasks in line with the Quadrant 2 Time principles of dealing with the strategic level non-urgent but important tasks. Participants will brainstorm and categorise their workload before we move onto the team aspect of delegating and sharing.
We will then cover how to delegate and give feedback to peers and those who you manage directly. The workshop includes small group work and role play of delegating and managing tasks with feedback and recommendations from the trainers.
