Communications activities need to be backed up by a communication strategy. Too often organisations are doing lots of communication activities but with no strategy. Planning a communication strategy is not rocket science.

A communications strategy is a complete plan of action to coordinate communication activities and resources and maximise their impact to support organisational / company / government reputation and business/corporate/policy objectives. A good strategy should define a hierarchy of goals, initiatives and KPIs to ensure those objectives are achieved.
